The EJEPL All-Stars were crowned champions at the Minnesota Meltdown AAA Showcase Tournament this past weekend. Stars own Meghan Dupre and Sophia Mughal were selected to the 17 player roster and contributed to the team’s 5-0 record. A perfect way to wrap up a season!

U14 Tier 2 Full Season 2018/19

The Wonderland Stars is a CHC Tier 2 team and proud member of the EJEPL (Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League) and CGHL (Connecticut Girls Hockey League). Strong emphasis on player development, 2-3 practices per week. Practices and home games will be shared between  Milford Ice Pavilion and The Wonderland of Ice.

Girls skill sessions will begin on Friday April 20^th 2018 at 6:00pm

then continue every Friday night at the MIP at 6:00pm-7:15pm

ending Friday August 17^th 2018. (except Friday July 6^th)

Cost is 15.00 per skater (walk up)

Konquer Hockey Co Founders Karl Linden and Austin Wambolt will lead the sessions

During his professional career, Karl Linden  played as a defenseman for the Evansville Icemen, Wichita Thunder and Arizona Sundogs. He also played in Sweden’s First Division with the Arlanda Wings and the Sollentuna Ice Hockey Club, earning rookie of the year honors with Sollentuna.

The former defenseman spent also time with the Bradford Rattlers in the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League, earning the League Best Defenseman and League MVP awards during his tenure.

With Elmira, Linden was a four-year member of the hockey team, scoring 19 goals and recording 60 assists in 103 games. He earned numerous accolades for his play including being named to the Reebok Division III All-American team as well as the ECAC All Conference First and Second teams. A native of Sundbyberg, Sweden, Linden has previously helped operate and coach youth hockey camp and organizations in Sweden, New York and Onatrio.

Austin Wambolt Co founded Konquer Hockey.  He currently serves as the business development manager for Konquer Hockey.  Wambolt specializes in online sales and social media marketing. Previous to Konquer Hockey he was the Director of Online Sales and Marketing for HockeyGear.Com.
 

During his playing career Wambolt grew up playing in the Wallingford Hawks Youth Hockey Organization and earned the lifetime Hawk Award. He proceeded to go to Lyman Hall High School and was named assistant captain his senior year.
 

Wambolt has coaching experience at both the Bantam and High School level.  Wambolt was also a Jr scout for the EHL Oilers.

Wambolt graduated with honors from West Virginia University. With a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an area of specialty in small business entrepreneurship.

For the second time in 5 years the SCYH STARS U16 team played for the National Championship this morning, having won it all in 2013. The STARS faced the St Lawrence Thunder in a rematch from Saturday’s only loss in the 2018 tournament. After 2 scoreless periods the STARS scored first on a Power Play goal at the 4:30 mark of the 3^rd period.  Just 31 seconds later the Thunder would answer with their first goal and then again at the 5:49 mark to take the lead 2-1. The Thunder would not look back scoring their third goal and then an empty net goal to make the score 4-1 The STARS never quit and fought to the end, scoring a goal with 1 second left to make the final score 4-2.

Congratulations to both teams for a great tournament and a well played, hard fought championship game!

There will be a time change for the first night of tryouts on Weds night 4/11/18 at ther Wonderland of Ice. The Start time will now be 5:30pm and ending at 6:30pm. Thank you and we appreciate your flexibility.

The SCYH STARS and Wonderland Wizards are excited to announce, Michelle Marella  as the head coach for the Tier 2 Girls U14 team. SCYH will be working in unison with the Wonderland Wizards, to form the “Wonderland Stars” Girls Hockey Program for the 2018 and 2019 fall season!!! 

Michelle has been a professional power skating coach for 24 years and the Head Coach for the Lauralton Hall Girls Varsity Hockey teams for the past 9 years.

Michelle is a former Sacred Heart University 4 year varsity skater and has also coached at the Wonderland Wizards youth hockey program for  8 years.

Tryouts will be held at both Milford Ice Pavilion and The Wonderland of Ice with the regular season practices and games also shared at both rinks.

Girls Spring Hockey

The Lady Pioneers program will consist of 10 practices and two travel tournaments (TBA).  The cost of the Spring Hockey program is $695.

The Lady Pioneers Spring Hockey is a great way for the Girls teams to transition into the fall season with their new Wonderland Stars teammates.

The 2018 CGHL U19 Division 2 Champs!

Congratulations to the Southern Stars Girls CGHL U19 team, and Coach Kerri Rowland, on winning the CGHL U19 Division 2 Championship tonight (3/18/18).

The Southern girls went 3-1 in round robin play, suffering their only loss at the hands of Pawling U19.  As Sunday morning played out, the Stars needed at outright win over Northern Lights, in order to advance to the Championship game,  And the girls did just that, with a 6-2 win over Northern Lights, it set up a re-match with Pawling for the Championship.

The Southern girls were ready to avenge their round robin loss from the moment the puck dropped.  They potted 4 unanswered goals in the 1st period, including a Short Handed goal and a Penalty Shot.  The 2nd and 3rd period were a gritty, back and forth affair with Southern tacking on two more goals, while Pawling countered with three of their own,  When the final horn sounded, the Southern Stars had had achived what they set out to accomplish - avenged their earlier loss and take home the U19 CGHL Division 2 trophy.  In the Championship game, the Stars were led by Veronica Lynn (2G), Emily Rowland (2G,1A), Leigha Howland (1G), Meghan Froelich (1G), Sam Henchcliff (1A), Maeghan Stacey (1A), and Marisa Fiore (1A).  Rebecca Paine put up 22 saves to seal the deal.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE COACHES AND PLAYERS OF THE

SCYH PEE WEE A1 NORRIS DIVISION CHAMPS1

During the 2018-2019 season, all SCYH players at the Mite, Squirt and Pee Wee level will receive a one-hour skill development session each week. The coaching staff of DC Skills will focus on skating technique, stride- and edge-work.  It is the goal of SCHY, for players at each level make progress with their skating. The DC Skills coaching staff will then build upon that technique and skill each week. The DC Skills sessions will be lead by Dave Canfarotta.

David was first team all-state while at Notre Dame-Fairfield (CT) and spent a PG year at Trinity Pawling before joining the CT Oilers EHL team. Dave went on to play at Franklin Pierce University and Post University. He is also currently an assistant coach for the Fairfield High School Boys Varsity Hockey team.

During the 2018-2019 season, all SCYH goaltenders will receive a one-hour training session, twice a month, at Fairfield Ice Academy. The goaltending coaching staff will focus on rebound control, movements, and recoveries. The goaltending coaching staff will get to know each goalie and customize training sessions based on what they are observing or based on anything specific a goalie asks to go over.

The 2017-2018 SCYH STARS CHC Tier 2 State Champs

Newington, CT: Congratulations to the 2017 U16 CHC Tier 2 State Champions!  The STARS beat Hamden today (11-5-17) at the Newington Ice Arena by the score of 6-2 in the championship game.

Hamden jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 1^st period and the STARS had to kill off four penalties, before finding the back of the net to tie the game 1-1. The STARS were able to score again before the first break to take a 2-1 lead. After a scoreless 2^nd period, the STARS scored in the first 36 seconds of the 3^rd period (power play) to make it 3-1. A minute later the STARS added another goal to extend the lead to 4-1. Hamden was not about to give up and they made the score 4-2, after getting a power play goal. The STARS answered right back with the 5^th goal, to make it a three-goal lead again midway in the 3^rd. The STARS (White) would tap in the final goal of the game to make it a 6-2 final.

The Hamden goalie did a fantastic job fending off the STARS for the first two periods. STARS Captain Will Forrest provided the leadership needed to overcome a tough and well coached Hamden team. Great efforts by Matt Siciliano, Troy Harwell, Evan White, Justin Lasella and goalie Kacy Adams to name a few.

The STARS will travel to New Jersey in April (2018) to compete in the National Championship tournament. This is the sixth consecutive trip to Nationals for coaches Eric Roos and Rick Beckwith. The STARS are coming off the EJEPL split season championship a week ago and took the East Coast Challenge Cup a month ago. The STARS finished the season with an impressive 25-5-1 record and with a # 3 national ranking in the Tier 2 bracket. Way to go STARS!

2017 U16 Team

Will Forrest named Tournament MVP!  This is the 3rd consecutive year that the U16 team has won the Split Season EJEPL Championship. Way to go STARS!
